FAQ

What is MOPS?

Here are the basic elements of every group:

  • Welcoming and open environment

  • Mentoring and leadership development opportunities

  • Time for creative activities

  • Valuable take away teachings and lessons

  • And best of all … child care

Louisville MOPS is a local chapter of the MOPS International organization.  Click here for some more information on our parent organization.

What should I expect at a meeting?

First, some hot coffee and tea (with all the fixings!) and breakfast are provided at each meeting. Since child care is provided, you'll get to enjoy these while they are still hot! All meetings incorporate a curriculum provided by MOPS International that follows a yearly theme. Meetings include time to chat with fellow mamas at your table as well as participate in larger group discussions, speakers, and activities. We will discuss a variety of topics throughout the year that are relevant to today's crazy world of parenting.

We open or close with a prayer, but we welcome moms of any or no religion. No matter your background, mothering is hard work, and we ALL could use a safe and supportive environment - this is what we're working hard to create.

Do you provide childcare?

Moppets is our childcare program that runs during out bi-monthly MOPS meetings for children ages 6 months through 5 years old. Infants thru non-walkers are welcome to attend the MOPS meeting with their Mom.

Childcare is based on availability and Moppets program registration is required for the entire semester. Childcare workers are required to pass a background check before serving as a childcare worker.

Can I try it out first?

Yes! We would love to meet in person so that you can experience a typical MOPS meeting.

How do I sign up and what are the costs?

Please find details under the “Registration” tab of the website.

If you are facing a potential financial barrier to joining MOPS, please contact us to learn more about scholarships. Your request will be confidential and only shared with Legacy Church Pastor Brian Hays. Don’t hesitate to send us a quick message or email mopsinlouisville@gmail.com  and we will give you all the info you need.

What are my donations used for?

Louisville MOPS is a non-profit organization that relies largely on charitable donations from the community to stay open as a supportive community resource for local moms. We are always grateful for donations. All funds raised for our MOPS Chapter are used toward child care, educational materials, speaker fees, scholarships, and supplies for our meetings.

We are a 501(c)3 non profit organization, meaning all donations are tax-deductible.

Do you have employment opportunities?

Louisville MOPS is run by volunteers and therefore does not have any employment opportunities. However, we are also eagerly seeking awesome, fun-loving people to help with the Moppets children daycare program. The Moppets program allows Mothers to relax and enjoy MOPS knowing their children are safely cared for during meetings. Children are ages 6 months -5 years.

The hours are 8:45am-11:15am on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays every month and compensation of $50 a meeting. If you are interested, please contact us at mopsinlouisville@gmail.com.
